Christmas is coming! Not only is this a busy time of year for retail shops but also for photographers. I am frequently asked by clients “What should we wear?” “What photographs best?” “Do you have any recommendations for shops? I don’t want to drag my toddler to the mall.” I will do a few blog posts about what to wear.

Let’s start with the youngsters. I found the cutest little children’s boutique right here in Irmo, South Carolina! Enchanted Closet is located off St. Andrews Dr and can help you with your little one’s wardrobe needs. Everything from baptism outfits, seasonal clothes, onesies for your newborn, and accessories. Owner Allison Beck even has a TV equipped with two toddler chairs for your little one to sit and watch a movie while you shop! Custom embroidery and monogramming are also offered.

Allison has a great selection of holiday clothes. When shopping for clothes for a family portrait session, keep patterns to a minimum. Stripes and plaid are fine if paired with a solid color. Accent with a bow tie for boys or a hair bow for girls. Don’t forget the shoes! If you are looking for a more formal look complete it with little black leather shoes for girls or suede brown shoes for boys.

Enchanted Closet can order the size shoe you need. Most important, pick a color you like! You’ll be coordinating your outfit with your little one so if orange is not your favorite, save the Clemson color for another day. When you find your perfect outfit, remember to have your child wear it a few times before your portrait session. If a tag is causing them to itch, shoes feel funny or they have a very independent spirit and won’t wear it, better to find out BEFORE your session.

Avoid the crowded malls and stop in at Enchanted Closet! There's even a little coffee shop in the parking lot. Get a little pick me up and shop in peace while your little one gets to watch a show. A win for everyone!
