Love Yourself and Be Confident
I love sharing my client’s stories through portraits and interviews.
Here are a few snippets from Becky’s interview.
What made you get pictures done?
I think self-image is something a lot of women struggle with myself included, and I have a 16-year-old daughter. I just think that it’s important for her to know that I feel comfortable in my skin and anything I can do to help myself feel more confident then I’m going to try it.
How do you think the definition of beauty has changed over the years?
I think social media has definitely caused us all to feel a little intimidated because we’ve moved away from inner beauty to more external beauty. I think the reality of what we see on social media is not true and therefore our perception is skewed and makes us all feel very intimidated.
What would you tell your 20-year-old self?
You only have one life and it goes by very quickly, you should love yourself and be confident and not worry about what other people think. If you love it and it makes you feel good then go for it.
What motivates you in the morning?
Being a mom and just helping my daughter thrive and to be able to become whatever she wants to be. I hate to say I want to see time pass quickly but I love the milestones in her life and I just love being her biggest advocate and champion.
If your daughter were here today, how would she describe you?
Funny, and someone who is very strong and compassionate. That I’m the biggest champion for her and I love her more than anything.
When do you feel you were the most confident in life?
In my work environment, from a professional setting. I feel very independent, very confident and I feel commanding. Not in a bad way, but I feel like because of my confidence in what I do that that’s where I’m most comfortable.
What advice would you give your daughter?
To be independent, and know that she can be whatever she wants to be and that she doesn’t have to rely on anyone else to get there. She is smart and beautiful and that the skies the limit as long as she puts her mind to it. She can achieve anything and I will be right there to help her get to wherever she wants to be and make her dreams come true.
What has your greatest struggle in life taught you?
Losing my dad was one of the hardest things I’ve experienced. It just taught me that you should live everyday to the fullest and to make sure the people that you love know it and never doubt that.
What is your favorite quote or scripture?
“The happy heart makes the face cheerful but heartache crushes the spirit.” Proverbs 15:13
