Meet Claire, Class of 2020

"Keep moving forward!" Fantastic advice from this University of South Carolina graduate!  Meet Claire. Like so many other young graduates, Claire's senior year was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the unprecedented times, she wanted to capture this important milestone in her life. Claire was full of smiles during our shoot and she should be. She is graduating with a degree in Public Relations and a minor in Business Administration. When asked why she chose this major, Claire replied, " I originally started as a print journalism major, but I loved the versatility of a PR major. It's interpersonal skills, marketing, digital communications, and touches of journalism all wrapped into one package. I feel like it gave me a lot of skill sets to face any challenge or task set my way." Claire hopes to work in the music and entertainment industry.

While at UofSC, Claire was the president of the eventing club for four years. Eventing is an equestrian sport including the disciplines of dressage, stadium jumping, and cross country. As a former equestrian myself, I can tell you Eventing is a very difficult discipline. When asked what advice she would give an incoming Freshman, Claire replied "Don't be afraid to get out of your comfort zone and try something new. You never know who you will meet or the opportunity you may come across." Wise advice from this graduate!

Claire's favorite part of college was getting unforgettable work experiences in a field that she is interested in which allowed her to take what she learned in the classroom to her after-school job. When asked what was the best advice she has received for life after graduation, Claire said this: "To keep moving forward. You can always learn from past mistakes or experiences and moving on with a new outlook is the best way to be open to something new."

I was proud to photograph this dynamic young woman as she celebrates her graduation from the University of South Carolina. I hope she looks back for decades to come and sees her personality and excitement in her portraits. Good luck Claire! We wish you all the best as you begin a new chapter in your life.
