Love Yourself
I love sharing my client’s stories through portraits and interviews. Life doesn’t stop just because you turned 60! Cynthia had so much energy and we loved showing her just how beautiful she is!
Here are a few snippets from Cynthia’s interview.
What made you get pictures done?
I had many many years of learning to love myself and all of sudden the light switch turned on and I needed to do something for me.
How do you think the definition of beauty has changed over the years?
I think a lot of it has to do with the media, and how the media portrays women. We think that we have to be a certain way to be beautiful when each one of us has our own individual beauty.
What would you tell your 20-year-old self?
Learn to love yourself as you are.
When do you feel you were the most confident in life?
I think that I’m more confident now then when I was younger, and I guess the way my body looks. Even though it’s the 60-year-old body, not the 20-year-old body anymore, it’s that self-acceptance that sometimes things just are what they are.
What advice would you give your children today?
Be a person of integrity, doesn’t matter what the rest of the world is out there doing, do what you know is right, show up and do what you know is right.
How have your values changed over the years?
I think that my values have not so much changed but evolved, persay. Before it was more of just following the rules. Now, I still hold those things important but I can be more relaxed about it. I don’t have to be textbook perfect because I realized I’m not.
If you had one thing on your bucket list that you want to do what would it be?
Travel. I have never been a lot of places and so I think I would like to travel not necessarily internationally, but there’s so much so unexplored just here that I’ve never explored.
What is your favorite quote or scripture?
To be accepting of yourself, be accepting of who you are, of your faults, and your imperfections, but then learn to love yourself. Despite all of that, love yourself for who you are and for how you look. We are all unique and we have to accept and learn to love ourselves.
