40 Over 40 Portraits

What is the 40 over 40 project? I decided back in December of 2020 to take on a new project photographing women over the age of 40. As I watched my daughter graduate high school in 2020, I realized how much society focuses on the younger generation. The size 0, perfect skin, meticulous makeup, and fabulous hair are plastered all over magazine covers. We are inundated with images of perfect beauty. Unfortunately, it is not realistic. As most of us know, our bodies change as we age. We can fight it with all our might but in the end, we do not look like we did when we were 18.

Getting older is scary for a woman. We want to look and feel beautiful while still being relevant. The older generation has so much wisdom to offer and I wanted to give women a way to share their thoughts while showing them how beautiful they are. That old saying “age is just a number” is very true. We need to embrace the beauty that comes with each milestone, lift each other up and celebrate the great accomplishments women bring to our community.  Keep watch as I share each woman's story.  Below is just a glimpse of the many amazing women I photographed so far.
