Live Life to the Fullest

I love sharing my client’s stories through portraits and interviews. Strength and courage are just a couple of words to describe this 40 over 40 client!

Meet Dawn and her family. Dawn recently beat cancer and I loved sharing this victory with her. When Dawn signed up for her session, she shared that she lost her husband a few years before due to cancer. That alone would knock the fight out of anyone but not Dawn. She kept up the fight and won. Family means the world to her. I had so much fun photographing her and her kids. You can tell they are very proud of their mom and Dawn is equally as proud of her kids. They were so polite and patient. 40 over 40 sessions are longer than your typical family shoot and this was a big ask of the kids. They hung in there like champs! Here are a few snippets from Dawn’s interview.

What made you get pictures done?

Hair came back curly from chemo to treat breast cancer.

What would you tell your 20 year old self?

I’m more beautiful than I was at 20 because of the experience I have and what I know.

As a cancer survivor, how has your outlook changed?

As a cancer survivor, I take every day and celebrate it and live it to the fullest, and love it to the most.

What is one thing you would tell your daughter?

She is beautiful inside and out and I love her very much.

If you had one thing to tell your son, what would it be?

He is handsome inside and out and Iove him very very much.

How would you define “attractive” today versus 20-30 years ago?

My definition of attractive is a great personality, wonderful smile and a way to make people feel better about themselves. I focus more on the person and not the looks.

If you had one wish today what would it be?

My wish is to enjoy family for a very long time.
